Katya Gorrie Quartet

September 24 @ 20:00 - 22:00
Featuring frontwoman for the very popular band Moscow Drug Club…. Singer, composer & performer Katya Gorrie returns to her musical roots in jazz and blues in this intimate setting. Inspired by the music of Julie London, Peggy Lee, and Blossom Dearie, Katya invites listeners to engage with the story of the lyric through her sultry tone and hip phrasing. Beautifully arranged by the incredible Andy Bowen on Guitar, Will Harris on Double Bass and Dan Newberry on Sax.
Bassist Will Harris is best known for his lynchpin role in The Jazz Defenders, with whom he has toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe, but he has long been a stalwart of the West Country jazz scene, appearing regularly with Iain Ballamy, David Newton and Andy Sheppard. He studied under Dave Holland at the Royal Academy of Music and has toured with US saxophone legend Chris Potter, as well as UK rising stars Matt Anderson and Jonny Mansfield.
Andy Bowen is a jazz guitarist, composer, arranger and educator based in the South-West of England. Andy specialises in the jazz and swing music of the 1930s and 40s. He divides his time between playing with the Django Reinhardt-inspired ensemble ‘Swing from Paris’ and the popular Bristol-based ‘Moscow Drug Club’. With both acts, he has played at many prestigious jazz festivals both in the UK and internationally.
Dan Newberry is a talented sax player who’s played across Europe, as well as legendary venues such as Ronnie Scott’s in London and The Rainbow Room in New York. He’s shared the stage with some incredible musicians, including Dennis Rollins, Jeremy Stacey, Gareth Williams, John Law, and Alex Clarke, to name a few. With his unique sound and powerful playing, Dan brings energy and style to every gig, always leaving a lasting impression on audiences.
