Many people have the wrong idea about indie film. It is often thought that it is film that isn’t as good as ‘proper‘ films, but indie films are just as good and, often, much better because they don’t have to pander to the studios. That’s all indie film is, independent from the studio system.

Here are just a small selection of indie films:

  • Get Out (2017)
  • Parasite (2019)
  • Memento (2000)
  • The Blair Witch Project (1999)
  • Lost In Translation (2003)
  • Donnie Darko (2001)
  • Little Miss Sunshine (2006)
  • Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
  • Reservoir Dogs (1992)

Supporting Local People

The Meare Film Festival is one of the events that we are organising to help raise money for the area where Your Local Magazine is distributed.

While we have selected an organisation that we will be working on this, it has not yet been publicly announced – but will be very soon.

The aim of the Meare Film Festival is showcase just a small number of these films, and to do so throughout the year, starting with this, our first event – of many.
