When the heat is on, you gotta call the fuzz

Today (Saturday) on our BA6 and Beyond with Joe and Sylv Show, on GWS Radio, we also discussed Hot Fuzz, the well-known film shot in Wells, Somerset.

Featuring Simon Pegg as Nicholas Angel and Nick Frost as Danny Butterman, among many other brilliant actors, too many to mention.

A highly ambitious London police sergeant is transferred to a village where the laid-back officers oppose his strict rule enforcement, while a series of gruesome murders shakes the town.

The original script included a love interest named Victoria for Nicholas. She was cut from later drafts, but much of her dialogue was given to Danny, often unchanged.

Nick Frost only agreed to participate if he could name his character. He was also asked to watch twenty action films to prepare, but he only saw one, Bad Boys II (2003).

Edgar Wright made a short film in his hometown of Wells in 1993, aged 18, with school friends and others.

Among the cast was Peter Wild, who was one of the judges in Hot Fuzz’s Best Kept Village competition. The other two judges were the mothers of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg.
