Extended online chat hours for people experiencing domestic abuse in Somerset

If you’re facing domestic abuse in Somerset, you can now get confidential online chat support even longer.

The Somerset Domestic Abuse Service, which is backed by Somerset Council, has updated its chat hours from 11am-2pm to 10am-4pm. This extension makes it easier for you to reach out for help safely and discreetly. You can find the chat service on the Somerset Domestic Abuse Service website, where trained professionals are ready to provide free and confidential support. This option is perfect if you’re uncomfortable making a phone call or prefer a quieter way to get help. Plus, there’s also a confidential telephone helpline available from 8am to 8pm, every day of the week, including bank holidays. You’re not alone, and support is just a message away!

Extended hours for greater flexibility

The online chat is now available Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, ensuring that more people can get support when they need it most.

Cllr Federica Smith-Roberts, Lead Executive Member for Communities at Somerset Council, said:

We know that reaching out for help can be difficult, especially if someone is being monitored or feels unsafe to speak on the phone. By extending the online chat hours, we hope to make it easier for anyone in Somerset to access support confidentially, at a time that suits them.
