MasterChef returned to iPlayer and BBC One for its 22nd year, as the world’s most exciting cooking competition heats up for its most thrilling series to date.
Judging responsibilities rest with a fresh duo: the unique Grace Dent and acclaimed chef Anna Haugh. Both are prepared to challenge 48 of the nation’s top amateur cooks through some of the toughest and most impressive culinary tests yet. Over seven weeks, these contestants will compete for their chance at the title, but only one will meet the high standards to become MasterChef Champion 2026. One thing is certain: the journey will not be easy.
This year’s first heat features six skilled cooks from diverse backgrounds ready to compete in a culinary battle. Among the amateurs are an IT teacher, a construction company’s MD, and a financial advisor, all of whom will need sharp wits from the moment they step into the kitchen.
Their first goal was to earn one of four shining white MasterChef aprons, which served as their ticket to the adventure ahead. With only four aprons available, only those who truly stand out will succeed. Watch to find out who stands out.
