The BBC acquired The Sentinels, an eight-part French drama from STUDIOCANAL for BBC iPlayer and BBC Four.
This wartime sci-fi series blending action and espionage was created by Guillaume Lemans and Xabi Molia, based on the graphic novels Les Sentinelles.
During WWI, gravely wounded soldier Gabriel Ferraud is recruited into a secret French program to create enhanced humans. After serum injection, he gains superhuman abilities and joins the elite Sentinels.
As the war progresses, Gabriel uncovers a dangerous truth that could change history.
Directed by Thierry Poiraud and Édouard Salier, and written by Lemans, Molia, and Richet, the cast includes Louis Peres and others.
Nick Lee from BBC praises the series as an immersive war drama with a unique steampunk and Robocop vibe, offering depth and empathy.
Produced by Lionel Uzan and Thierry Sorel for Federation Studio France and Delphine Clot and Lemans for Esprits Frappeurs, it’s a CANAL+ Original Creation, with distribution by STUDIOCANAL.
